Prepare your students for 21st century global citizenship
Join the GLC in a special seminar series Do we all belong taking place in five regional Queensland locations in February and March 2018. The series is designed to assist Queensland teachers, curriculum leaders and support staff develop globally aware students who are critically literate, socially connected and ethically responsible.
Free Opportunity to Learn about:
- Discriminatory trends that pose challenges to social cohesion and have implications for teaching
- Examples of these challenges in local contexts through focus group discussions
- Evidence-based strategies aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework and P–10 Australian Curriculum to develop your students as critically aware 21 st century global citizens.
Which Education Level Do you Teach?
Early Childhood
For early childhood educators the series will address 4 areas of the National Quality Standard:
- Quality Area 1: Educational program and practice
- Quality Area 5: Relationships with Children
- Quality Area 6: Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
- Quality Area 7: Leadership and Service Management
Primary/Secondary/TAFE
For primary/secondary/TAFE educators the series will address 5 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (at the proficient level):
- Standard 1: Know students and how they learn
- Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching strategies
- Standard 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments
- Standard 6: Engage in professional learning
- Standard 7: Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community

Full Day Programme:
Each seminar will be available as a full-day workshop (8.45am–3.00pm) or, for teachers who need more flexibility, a twilight workshop (4.00pm–5.30pm). The twilight workshop will be an abridged version of the full-day experience. Participants can receive up to 4.5 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and a completion certificate.

An informative presentation designed to examine key issues from the 2017 Scanlon-Monash Social Cohesion Report. Discover a significant need for promoting social cohesion and embedding global citizenship education. |

An interactive session designed to identify: perceived local challenges to social cohesion, current programs to promote social cohesion, and focus areas for promoting social cohesion in teaching and learning. |

An exposé of global education resources aligned to relevant curriculum including vignettes of inspirational practice taking place in Queensland. Hear first hand from other teachers using the strategies with their students. |
